Welcome to Xfire's News Section!

The world of PC gaming is evolving at an amazing rate. I mean seriously, just ten years ago our computers were straining to play The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind and now we are modding the massive Skyrim universe to include Star Wars lightsabers and dragons that look and sound like Macho Man Randy Savage! Ok, so these advancements may not help us find a solution to the world’s energy crisis anytime soon, but they are impressive  technical achievements nonetheless….not to mention totally awesome.

Snap into a Skyrim! Ohhh Yeeeaahh!!

The competitive landscape of First Person Shooters has also turned from niche genre to a full-blown entertainment powerhouse, with no end in sight. We know that PC’s are the future, with computers only becoming faster, more convenient and more powerful. It truly is a beautiful thing!

So, what does this all mean for Xfire and the millions within the Xfire community? It signifies that we are prepared to put all our chips on the table and develop a full-service competitive gaming platform that truly takes advantage of the huge potential that PC gaming has going for it. Xfire 2.0 is a huge step in the evolution of competitive gaming, and along with our new Instant Action and Direct Challenge format, Battleground, you have everything you need to become a pro-level gamer.

But we are not stopping at that. We want you to view Xfire as a one-stop-shop for all your gaming needs. Not only will we provide one of the most advanced gaming formats around, we are also going to be bringing you news and commentary on all the big stories and hidden gems within the larger PC gaming community. Breaking news, interesting features, interviews with luminaries of the industry and community discussion are just some of the things you should expect from the new Xfire.

This is where I come in. Your humble editorial writer will be here with you everyday, as an information gatekeeper of sorts. I will bring you the most current and interesting stories and provide a bit of commentary. But since this is a community, I need your help. Voicing your opinions is encouraged and interesting discussions are essential to making this a great experience for all of us.

So feel free to drop me a line, call me out (not too harshly, please), or introduce me to areas of PC gaming that you feel should be on the community’s radar. Just like most Xfire users,  I am simply a lifelong gamer who truly loves the industry and cannot think of a place I would rather be. I know many of you feel the same, so lets make Xfire the best online gaming community around!

I can see why the page was locked down yesterday, or say i couldn’t log into my account for some reason. So here is the new “News” section, was waiting for something like this to happen, and it’s great that Xfire is improving and trying their best to provide the best sources and services to the fellow players and i really admire that.

Of course the new beta website have some technical problems or lacks some of it’s applications, and hopefully these issues will be resolved after the beta version is complete or in time, but that doesn’t mean to hate Xfire forever, players just gotta get used to it like any other new thing they try. At first it’s always the hard step, but when you take the other step, you will realize it will always repeat itself and things will get easier in the future.

Thank you Team Xfire for your effort in making this, awaiting more news so i can judge/give feedback in the future.

A great written article for sure. I for one love video games and reading about them and other companies, so I definitely will be in this section of xfire a lot now.

From the lines of the xfire2.0 it is looking good so far (from the youtube preview of the in-game overlay looks feels and operates), The xfire beta site has been looking down for a while now, but is now looking up from cleaning up some of the issues and error over the site, to coming out out with a brand new layout for the xfire client itself, and the new battleground area is a great new addition to have and make tournaments easier, stats, and ect about your gaming skills.

Can’t wait to see what’s coming next. I had my doubts since xfire had a new owner/team, but now you guys have changed my mind with the changes you guys have made and want to do, keep up the great job.

Still would love to see steam/xbox/ps3/wii enabled in like raptr dose.
