Beware of sharks and drink your grog! Ubisoft has just released the first gameplay trailer for Assassins Creed IV: Black Flag. The latest entry in the AC series, Assassins Creed 4 transports you into the warm waters of the Caribbean for some plundering and treasure seeking with badass pirate, and main protagonist, Edward Kenway.
The visuals are top-notch, as to be expected, and it looks like there will be a huge amount of nautical action for those who enjoyed the sea battles in ACIII. From what the trailer shows, the game world seems to be divided up into distinct islands and historical cities, with a great deal of exploration being one of the major components of this entry. This is a good thing.
While this game retains the look and feel of the Assassins Creed series, its critical success will depend on the new features it brings to the table.
If they can expand upon the seafaring aspect, while creating an atmosphere distinct from the others, Black Flag can be the breath of fresh air that this series desperately needs. With six dev houses working on ACIV, Ubisoft definitely has the manpower to create something great, but it will be the small things that make Black Flag stand out.
What are you initial thoughts on the Assassins Creed IV: Black flag gameplay trailer? Do you think this will be a fresh enough take on the series to keep fans interested? Let us know!
