It’s about that time for Rockstar to start heavily advertising what some have termed the “savior” of the game industry in 2013…or better known as Grand Theft Auto V. What better way to prepare for that momentous day than by drawing on our own piety and getting super religious!
For the GTA fans among us, the Epsilon Program may be familiar. The spiritual (and profitable) cult appeared in both Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and GTA IV, and seems to be set for a broader role in the fifth entry, if this mysterious viral video is any indication:
That was…..weird. With this focus on Epsilon, the Scientology-esque group of fanatics may have a larger role to play in a game that is based in a fictional version of LA. The same city where L. Ron Hubbard founded his famous, tax -exempt, Tom Cruise-led religion. Coincidence? Probably not.
Always a satire on broader society, Grand Theft Auto will surely take this idea and run with it. But in what direction? According to the Rockstar website, “Directions will be provided in one week’s time,” so it looks like we will see how this fits into the bigger picture very soon.
Any thoughts on this strange GTA V Epsilon video? How do you think the developers are going to use this group in the game? Let us know!
